United Library for Social Sciences
Our library - the United Library for Social Sciences of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences - is a public, scientific institute special one that was compiled from three institute libraries of the Political Science Institute, the Sociological Institute and the World Economy Institute in 1999. The three maintaining institutes were joined by a 4th one, the research Institute of Ethnic & National Minorities founded in 2001.
The collection of the library amounts to almost 180 thousand units: books, periodicals, manuscripts & electronic documents. The collection of periodicals is meaningful: our colleagues could read about 350 foreign & 110 Hungarian periodicals, several Hungarian & foreign daily papers in 2005. Until 2004 we used 'TINLIB' integrated library system to the computerization of our catalogue record - since 2005 we have been using 'HUNTEKA' system. Our online database contains the political science materials since 1988, whereas it contains the world economy special literature since 1995. Besides our daily duties, we are working on the computerization of the sociological book stock and on the retrospective cataloguing of old materials.

Monday - Thursday: 09-16
Friday: 08-12
On research days (Thuesday and Thursday) no more than 5 users are allowed at the same time.
