Research Group for Sociology of Organisation and Work
Introduction
The foundations of the research group operating within the framework of the Institute of Sociology of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences were laid down by Csaba Makó’s and Lajos Héthy’s researches on industrial sociology in the early 1970s. The reseach group is Affiliated Department for Advanced Labour Studies of Faculty of Economics, Debrecen University. From the beginning, participation in international comparative research has played an outstanding role in the theoretical and methodological orientation of the research group. The network of the research group includes partner institutions from both European and Asian countries. Since 1997, the members of the research group have participated in social science research funded by the European Commission. The research group made investigations mainly in the following two areas: (1) International comparative analyses in connection with the various characteristics of the emerging “new economy” (e.g. global value chains, new work forms, organisational innovations, etc.). (2) The role of social–cultural and institutional factors influencing regional innovation systems.
